Hiking in the Heart of Fuerteventura and discover one of the most authentic sides of the island on a hiking route that combines rural landscapes, ravines, volcanic mountains and spectacular cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

This route takes us from the heart of the island to the coast, crossing landscapes shaped over thousands of years by erosion and the island’s changing weather conditions. It is an opportunity to walk at a relaxed pace, observe how the landscape changes around us and discover some of the contrasts that make Fuerteventura such a distinctive island.

After being picked up from your accommodation at the agreed time, we will head towards the Betancuria Rural Park, where our hike begins.

Los Molinos Ravine

From the village of Los Molinos, we will enter the ravine of the same name, an area of particular natural interest and an important site for birdwatching.

As we walk through the ravine, we will see how the vegetation and terrain change with the surrounding conditions, discovering a very different side of Fuerteventura from the better-known coastal areas.

Volcanic Mountains and Landscapes

As we leave the ravine behind, the route continues inland, crossing mountains and volcanic landscapes that have been deeply shaped by erosion.

The shapes, colours and textures of the terrain offer an insight into the natural processes that have gradually shaped Fuerteventura over time.

Along the way, there will be several opportunities to stop, take in the surroundings and enjoy panoramic views across the island’s interior.

From the Mountains to the Ocean

As the landscape gradually changes, we will make our way towards the coast.

We will reach the cliffs, where the land meets the Atlantic Ocean, offering a striking contrast between the mountains of the interior and the vastness of the sea.

This part of the route reveals another of Fuerteventura’s defining features: within just a few kilometres, the landscape can change from quiet rural and mountainous terrain to an open coastline shaped by the power of the ocean.

Returning Along the Cliffs

From the coast, we will follow the line of the cliffs on our way back towards the starting point.

This section allows us to experience the landscape from a different perspective, with the Atlantic Ocean alongside us and the mountains we crossed earlier stretching out across the horizon.

Returning with the Essence of Fuerteventura

After a day exploring ravines, volcanic mountains, rural landscapes and cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, we will make our way back to the starting point. We’ll finish the route having discovered a lesser-known side of Fuerteventura, where nature, geology and landscape come together along trails and paths shaped by time, giving us a closer, more authentic and respectful view of the island and its unique character.
