Monta\u00f1a de la Arena<\/strong> offers an opportunity to explore one of the youngest volcanic areas of Fuerteventura and discover, through hiking, how the island\u2019s landscape has been shaped by both volcanic activity and human presence.<\/p>

The experience begins with pick-up from your accommodation at the agreed time, followed by a journey to the north of the island, where we will begin our route.<\/p>

Between Windmills and Ancient Lava Fields<\/h3>

The trail begins in an area of windmills<\/strong>, reflecting Fuerteventura\u2019s agricultural past. From here, we gradually enter a landscape dominated by malpa\u00eds<\/strong> \u2014 extensive areas of solidified lava, craters and ancient volcanic flows.<\/p>

As we walk, the terrain allows us to observe at close range the forms created by past eruptions and understand how this volcanic episode transformed the landscape.<\/p>

The route also takes us to a natural viewpoint overlooking the northern plains of Fuerteventura<\/strong>, offering a broader perspective of the island and the contrast between the volcanic terrain and its more open landscapes.<\/p>

Monta\u00f1a de la Arena and Its History<\/h3>

At less than 10,000 years old<\/strong>, Monta\u00f1a de la Arena is one of the youngest volcanic formations in Fuerteventura. Its surroundings are not only of geological interest; they also preserve traces of human presence dating from before the island\u2019s conquest.<\/p>

Throughout the area, caves and other spaces associated with pre-Hispanic settlement<\/strong> offer an insight into the relationship that Fuerteventura\u2019s ancient inhabitants had with this territory.<\/p>

The route therefore brings together landscape and heritage, showing how volcanic territories are also part of the island\u2019s cultural history.<\/p>

The Territory of the Majorero Egyptian Vulture<\/h3>

During the route, we will approach a conservation area for the Majorero Egyptian vulture<\/strong>, one of Fuerteventura\u2019s most characteristic birds.<\/p>

Sightings will depend on the conditions at the time and on the presence of the birds, so we cannot guarantee an encounter. If we are fortunate enough to see one, we will have the opportunity to observe this distinctive inhabitant of the island\u2019s landscapes in its natural environment.<\/p>

Dry-Stone Walls and Agricultural Landscapes<\/h3>

Alongside the volcanic landscape, we will also find dry-stone walls<\/strong> marking former fields and agricultural areas.<\/p>

These structures reveal another dimension of the territory: the work of generations of local communities who cultivated a land shaped by its arid climate and challenging terrain.<\/p>

As we walk, we can see how geology, agriculture and human activity<\/strong> have gradually become part of one interconnected landscape.<\/p>

After a day exploring volcanic landscapes, ancient agricultural fields and paths connected to the island\u2019s history<\/strong>, we will begin our return to the starting point.<\/p>
